1229 Shine: Reviews & Ratings
My husband and I had a lovely time visiting at happy hour last weekend (the 25th anniversary of the day we met). Our server, Will, gave us just enough words of welcome, direction towards menu items, and attentive service to make our visit together (which was primary in our focus) central. The happy hour menu was both diverse and tasty. We tried the tuna crudo (not pictured, but definitely our favorite), smoked fish dip (a perfect portion to split between two people as an appetizer) the raw oysters, and (from the regular menu) the grouper bites. Delicious. The frozen blackberry mules provided an excellent counterpoint to the fish. When we are next in the area, we WILL return—maybe to sit in the cute outside area. Very repeatable.
I got the bang bang grouper and my husband got the ribs. My dish was delicious and the temperature was spot on. The ribs were ok, there was a lot going on flavor wise ,which was confusing to the palette. The beers were ice cold! I will definitely return and I try other menu items. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Cool atmosphere with lights and wood accents. Drinks and food were beautiful on presentation & delicious too! Would definitely recommend trying this restaurant. Extra bonus is a very reasonable happy hour with great choices!
This place is so cute! I can't wait to see it in the summer. They have a lil stage and a cool bus and hammocks. The food was good, I went for valentines and ordered off their special menu. Was about $60 for dessert, appetizer, shrimp and grits and a alcoholic drink.
Thus is an adorable little place with a great outside area. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the gluten-free chicken sandwich, and my husband got the blackened Mahi sandwich. Both were good, mine was put together quite sloppy and fell apart as I picked it up but slwas still good for a gluten free meal, my husband said his fries were fantastic and the sandwich was delicious. I will say it seems better to sit outside as there was a terrible sewage smell inside, I'm not sure if it's new or if something was happening but it was very off putting and made me a bit nervous. Other than that, it was a great experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The coconut shrimp appetizer was AMAZING. There is a coconut curry in the batter and it was perfect with the sweet sauce given. The flounder and shrimp basket were perfect and tasted fresh. Their batter is awesome. Kids cheeseburger was huge and cooked just right. Will def be back on our trips to MB.
Located near Market Common, a great restaurant with ample indoor and outdoor door seating. Menu includes a number of appetizers (cooked and raw), tacos, sandwiches, salads, and entress. They also featured a special Tikki menu with additional food and beverages. Regular cocktail menu with a variety of cocktails, martinis, draft beer, and wine. We opted sit inside (it was hot and humid out), although most customers were outdoors. We were in a booth away from everyone which was nice since it was private but it did feel a bit too remote and detached from experiencing the full vibe of the restaurant (hence the 4 on atmosphere). The service was great. Our server was prompt, professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. Ordered a South Side Shine which was tasty but not so pretty to look at; have definitely had better presentation elsewhere. But it arrived nice and cold and was flavorful. Decided to our a few appetizers to share rather than getting a big meal. Great decision. Our apps ranged in price from $14-$23. Each was delicious and a good sized portion to share(there were 2 of us) and feel like you had plenty. Had read reviews which gave high praise to bang bang grouper bites. Did not disappoint. Bite sized pieces of white, flakey grouper with a tempura like fried coating. Not greasy with just the right amount of crunch, drizzled with bang bag sauce. YUM. Next we had the lobster sliders. SO GOOD. Decadent. Rich and full of flavor on a buttery roll. Not too much mayo and filler with a hefty blend of lobster. Love them. And off the Tikki menu we tried the crab Rangoon mozzarella sticks. They were huge. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we only had 2 of the 4. They were also good, not the full flavor of a crab Rangoon nor like a mozzarella sticks on its own. Worth trying, but not sure I’d order them again.
Our family drove into Myrtle Beach wanting oysters, and this place delivered the best we’ve had in a long time. The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was even better—warm, welcoming, and lively. Our kids loved playing with all the yard games while we waited, which made it even more enjoyable for the whole family. I highly recommend it to anyone craving fresh oysters and a great dining experience.
